1950s Gretsch 'Floor Show' Model Snare Drum
Size : 6.5 x 14
Finish : White Marine Pearl
Up on the block is a beautiful vintage late 50s / early 60s Gretsch 'Floor Show' model snare drum in the original White Marine Pearl. The special feature of this particular drum is the shell. The shell features 3-ply construction with reinforcement rings. These shells are similar to the drums that were created by Gladstone around this time. It is thought that particular shells were hand selected to receive special treatment in becoming a Gretsch - Gladstone drum and there are a few Floor Show models from around the same era that feature these enhanced shells. Many of these had a serial number stamped into the reinforcement ring - this one does not. Either way, this drum sounds great! The drum features all original hardware with the exception of the snare strand. The microsensitive strainer is in functioning condition, however the lever will disengage under heavy use. The interior veneer layer shows a very small split hear the strainer mount (see photos), This doesn't go through the shell by any means and is less than 1" long or so. Overall, a great rare drum.
