1960s Gretsch 'Progressive Jazz' Model Snare Drum // Player Grade *Please Read*

Up for grabs is a unique player grade 1960s Gretsch 'Progressive Jazz' Model snare drum in what appears to be original Jet Black wrap. The drum may be cut down from a cocktail drum or somehow modified from a larger Gretsch shell. The shell is 6-ply construction with silver sealer and bearing edges similar to a typical Gretsch snare. A couple of indicators that the drum was modified; the wrap seam lands in the same panel as the strainer, while standard Gretsch seam placement would be one panel over from the butt plate; located off-center on of the lugs. Second, the drum is a 6-ply shell and is equipped with double flanged chopper-style hoops which would date to earlier 3-ply construction shells. Third, the badge seams to have been moved at some point and has a thicker grommet holding it in place. Please review photos as this is being sold in an 'as-is' condition. Overall a very nice drum in a more uncommon finish.
