Extremely rare, 1969 Rogers Powertone model snare drum in the elusive 6.5 x 14 size. The drum features the original Black Diamond Pearl wrap and clear lacquered interior, showing a US Navy brand stamp as well as the interior paper badge. Most likely this drum was custom ordered for the US Navy, with the legend having it that Mickey Hart of The Grateful Dead ordered this back when he was in the US Navy. There is no documentation to back this claim, only stories passed down from previous owners. The drum has a repair at the strainer (see interior photos) where the drum may have been dropped, resulting in the strainer pushing into the shell. The repair was done very well and only a few hairline cracks are noticeable from the interior and exterior (see photos). These 6.5 x 14 wood powertone drums are few and far between , they surface far less than even 6.5 x14 wood dynasonics!
