Up for grabs is a beautiful 1920s Ludwig 'Separate Tension' Model snare drum in the beautiful Peacock Pearl (Version I) wrap. This drum is in outstanding condition with all original nickel over brass hardware including 10 tube lugs, all correct tension rods and nickel over brass clips, single flanged hoops, correct butt plate and Professional model strainer. The interior of the shell is original factory clear lacquer. The drum is finished in the very rare Peacock (Type I) wrap that was the original Peacock Pearl first released in 1928 and later replaced by a second version of the wrap (Type II) in 1930. The original Type I wrap is notorious for fading and as seen in the photos, about 1/3 of the shell is faded. The other 2/3 of the shell is extremely vibrant, showing strong colors which is actually one of the better examples of this wrap. There is also an era correct muffler installed, however this may have been added down the road at some point. There is a very small split in the wrap coming off of the right side screw holding the muffler unit in place. This area was address and glued down and flushes out with the rest of the wrap.. both to the touch and visually with the complex patterns. Overall an outstanding rare drum!
