Available for grabs is a battle horse of a snare, a 1949/50 Leedy Broadway Standard Model snare drum in the more uncommon 8x14 size. This drum has some outstanding mojo. The drum was stripped and light clear coated over the veneer sitting under either the original paint or wrap. There is evidence that their might have been red paint on the drum as the grain in the veneer shows traces of red. The shell shows stress veneer cracks on both the interior and exterior - however the shell is a tank and remains strong with no signs of shell failure. The drum was painted white on the interior and retains all of the original nickel over brass hardware! The Standard models are more desirability among players due to the simplicity and reliability of the strainer design. The hoops do not show the stamped "broadway" marking, which was also common at this time. The hoops are in good condition with average wear and slight bends, however heads mount very well. Along with the refinished bird's eye figured veneer and aged nickel, the drum has a beautiful distressed vintage overall appearance.
