1930s Slingerland 'Tone Flange' Model Snare Drum
Finish : Sparkling Gold Pearl
Size : 5 x 14
Available for purchase is a 1930s Slingerland Tone Flange model snare drum that has been resurrected from near death to a beautiful player snare drum. The drum was received as a bare shell with the original badge installed only. New tube lugs, tension rods, 3-point strainer and claws were sourced for the drum. Correct rounded head brass screws for the batter bearing were installed and a new production banjo ring was also sourced to bring this drum back to the closest original, yet playable state it would have originally been in. Wood hoops and gold glass wrap from the 1950s were also used on this drum to create a unique player that still matched the aesthetic of the shell. All of the tube lugs required one hole to be ever so slightly widened. The butt plate is an original 1930s plate that fits the drum perfectly, in addition to the strainer, which holes align without modification. The drum had one extra large heater hole installed right above the butt plate, thus a vent grommet was installed at this location. The batter side head sits on top of the banjo ring and the drum tunes up very nicely for quite a crack, which is what these tone flange drums are known for. This drum is beautiful and deserves some stage time!
