1933 Ludwig Hi-Luster Blue Outfit Vintage Drum Kit : 14x28 - 5x14

The Ludwig Hi-Luster outfit appeared only in the 1933 catalog, suggesting that this may have been the only year this finish was in production. The finish was advertised as an extra durable paint finish and was offered in blue and green only, with the option to include 'Silver Flash Skeleton Diamonds' as this example illustrates. The paint finish did not perform as expected thus Hi-Luster outfit was discontinued shortly after it entered into production, making these drums very rare. This particular drum kit features newly tucked and stamped snares heads, while the bass drum heads are the original calf hide. The batter side head features silhouette artwork inspired by 1930's burlesque dancer, Sherry Britton. This painting is applied to the original calf head, which is torn in the black area of the woman's dress. 

The drums are in good condition with original hi luster paint. The finish does show chips, scratches and checking in some areas; please review photos. The snare has freshly tucked hide heads and all original hardware. The bass drum also has original hardware. There are two holes drilled near the head that resembles a mount installed at some point.
