1940s Slingerland WWII Rolling Bomber Snare Drum
Size : 7 x 14
Finish : Marine Pearl
During WWII metal rationing took the forefront in product design; with efforts to keep any single product below 10% metal materials. Slingerland, like many drum companies at this time, took a unique approach to reinventing the design of drums with this rationing order in place. Slingerland created the "Rolling Bomber" drums, reimagining hardware in wood rather than metal. The rolling bomber snare drum featured an off-set 6-lug pattern in which the hoops, lugs, and strainer parts were made of wood instead of metal.
This particular drum is in beautiful condition with all original hardware and wrap. The Marine Pearl is in great condition with minimal fading. The snares are also original to the drum, and the drum is 100% playable. The batter side head a freshly tucked goat hide sporting a Radio King ink stamp, while the resonant side is a 40s / 50s calf head with plenty of life left in it.
